"Brocken" (1700s house) by Joy
Gush, artist
“My
grandparents, artists Mary and John Frederick Mowbray-Clarke
settled in “Brocken”
Rockland County, New York, in 1907.
Together with Arthur B. Davies, they brought over
the
French Impressionists to America for the 1913 Armory Show.
Mary Mowbray-Clarke became a landscape architect and
built the Dutch Gardens
in
Rockland.”
